Candice Garrett is a mother to three sons, an E-RYT with Yoga Alliance and a recognized teacher trainer, as well as  the director and founder of Nine Moons Prenatal Teacher Training programs. She specializes in yoga, prenatal yoga and pelvic health and travels extensively.

She is also a columnist for Elephant Journal, a regular presenter for the Flagstaff Yoga Festival and author of Prenatal Yoga: Finding Movement in Fullness.

An avid foodie, she maintains a cooking blog at
www.theyogickitchen.blogspot.com

Her approach to yoga blends knowledge of how the body works with lightness, compassion, dedication and playfulness. The result is a fun and educational class that empowers the student to create their own practice, using their own strengths and weaknesses. Expect for classes to be balanced in both effort and ease and that your needs will be well-tended.

Her studies are grounded in Iyengar yoga and have included top instructors, such as Senior Iyengar instructor
Kofi Busia, Leslie Howard and prenatal teacher Robin Sale, Judith Hanson Lasater and various Anusara teachers.

Candice is honored to be an assistant to Leslie Howard, Yoga Journal Conference Presenter. Look for Leslie at the conferences in New York and San Francisco!

Laura McKinnon

Picture
Laura McKinnon: Mom, certified yoga teacher, and owner of Seaside Yoga Sanctuary in Seaside, California.

Laura began practicing yoga in 2000, after suffering from sport related injuries. Although it was her injuries that first brought her to the mat, she quickly found other benefits from the practice that helped bring a balance to her life and inspired her to teach.

She firmly believes that yoga is for everyone; regardless of age or physical ability and that it is through yoga that we can all find health, wellness, and peace. After becoming certified to teach, her passion eventually led her to open Seaside Yoga – a place of community where practicing yogis can continue their journey, for those new to yoga to begin, and where the practice of yoga can be fostered from the start of life by supporting women in prenatal and post natal yoga, and continuing from toddlers to kids yoga.

As a new mom, she brings a new found joy and compassion to her practice and enthusiastically shares her love of yoga with her students. In her teaching she encourages students to openly explore themselves; bringing awareness to each moment and finding the connection within. She holds a special place in her practice and teaching for moms to be and those new to the practice.

She teaches yoga for all levels, pre and post natal yoga, and yoga for beginners.

Laura received her 200 hour advanced studies and teacher training certificate from Yoga High Studio in Salinas, CA in 2006 and is a registered yoga teacher. Though she has studied a variety a of yoga styles, she is strongly influenced in the Iyengar tradition and continues to study with certified Iyengar instructors; continuing her education through various workshops and other training.

Heather Schwarz

Picture
Heather Schwarz has been committed to a path of empowerment for women, especially birthing women, for 10 years. Her journey began when she was asked to be a doula for her closest friend. It was at this natural birth center that she began to see that birth could be a beautiful and empowering event in a woman's life. Since that experience, she has been inspired to educate herself and others about how to make the choices that are empowering for them as they become parents.

This has led her to take trainings of all kinds and as such, she has been trained by "Birthing from Within" in childbirth mentoring, ALACE childbirth education, DONA's doula courses, and mentored with veteran doula Carmen Bornne-Gilman.

She is a spiritual counselor and reiki practitioner who has taught women's circles and classes. She is also mother to two children, one born in the hospital and one at home in the water, who continue to be her biggest inspiration in all things. She is always expanding and learning how to find new ways to empower, educate, inform, support and hold space for pregnant couples, new parents and for those who wish to empower and support them.

Heather and her family live in Venice where she is a Student Midwife, a Birth and Post Partum Doula, a Doula Trainer and Mentor and the Birth Sanctuary's Doula Coordinator. You can find her at www.birthingspirit.com or www.birthsanctuary.com
